Navigate 2.1.4 Lecture Capture

How would the resource function in the online classroom?

Lecture Capture would function as a recorded "live version of class notes" (or "video notes") allowing students who weren't able to attend the synchronous session to essentially press "replay." This replay feature also functions as a remediation tool for learners who need reteaching.

How would the integration of Lecture Capture modify teaching methods?

Lecture Capture modifies the overall teaching method by truly enabling instructors to personalize student learning. A student who has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) or a 504 Plan with modifications truly gets the properly paced instructional delivery that is needed for her success. Lecture Capture no longer forces teachers to instruct to the middle of the bell curve out of logistical necessity! Class size and a class period's time constraint no longer negatively affect a student's learning experience. In my humble opinion, this is the true benefit of online learning. As an added bonus, it levels the academic landscape by giving greater access to quality education to more students around the globe.

I’ve created a prezi to address Lecture Capture. Here are the basic elements.

Lecture Capture:
*serves as a bridge between synchronous & asynchronous instruction
*is a reteaching/remediation tool
*allows student to choose time of instruction when s/he has a scheduling conflict
*doubles as a “live version” of “class notes”
*promotes scaffolding of diverse student learning styles and varied instructional styles
