Communicate 4.2.1 Feedback

Quality Feedback

The importance of immediate and specific feedback in an online learning environment, cannot be overemphasized. The use of rubrics and tools that will aid the teacher in delivering targeted and prompt commentary on assignments is a must. Additionally, assignments must be intentional and support concrete learning objectives. As mentioned in my previous post, the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language (ACTFL) is the standard bearer for World Language learning.

The Spanish 2 vocabulary quiz has been altered so that I can provide quick and specific feedback to the student.

STANDARD: Connections -  Standard 3.1 Students reinforce and further their knowledge of other disciplines through the foreign language

1)After the student submits the quiz and I grade it, I will take a photo of the assessment and upload the image into a MS Word document.
2)Then, I will record a short audio file as feedback speaking to the items that were missed by number and explain"why" her submitted answer is incorrect. I will not give the correct answer but invite her to resubmit a corrected version to recuperate missed points within an allotted time frame.
3)The student has a chance to be rewarded for investing the time into reviewing and really learning the content before moving on. By doing so, she is building a stronger foundation in the subject matter.
4)As a teacher, I am ecstatic that she is actually reviewing the content! Similarly, I would imagine her parents are excited that the student is happy to review a few items on the same assignment rather than have to do an entirely new & different assignment to recapture missed points. It is a win-win-win for all 3 stakeholders!
